In our (overly bias) opinion everyone will benefit from engaging with an architect for their project. 

Consider the 100 page instruction manual you get when you buy a flat pack cupboard from IKEA and now consider jumping into a full renovation and extension of your home with no detailed drawings?  its only going to end one way.... 

A great architect will inject value from the outset and consider elements many other wouldn't. 

Architect [aa·kuh·tekt ] - one skilled in the art of building; designer or contriver; one who controls construction.

A designer with a specific focus on architecture, able to provide all of the information which traditional architects offer, but usually with a sole purpose or niche area of expertise. 

Tom attained a degree in architecture from the Welsh School of Architecture and started Talo build's to focus purely on high-end residential extensions and renovations which drives a personal experience and higher level of attention per project than a typical larger architectural firm. We have great connections with builders and other consultants to ensure a smooth delivery of you project from the outset.

 All of our fee's are broken down on a project by project basis depending on the level of service which is required. Typically our projects are of a highly detailed nature and deliver a quality result. 

Whether your project is big or small our approach to highly crafted spaces does not change. 

Our fee's are loosely based on a percentage of the over all project cost, typically between 7-10% however this will change depending whether you are looking for the bare minimum to get through planning and building regulations or a fully co-ordinated architectural service from start to finish.

Talo builds keeps an eye on the budget at each stage of the design process to ensure we are designing appropriately. Most recently (2025) when all the dust settles our average extension has ranged from £2000 - £3500/m2 with renovated elements costing in the region of £1750/m2- if appropriate we will recommend a quantity surveyor joins the design team.  

In most cases, the answer will be YES. Pretty much every project we are involved with requires the input of a structural engineer. We work very closely with the Vale consultancy or KTP engineers depending on the location of your project.
